Top Al Qaeda operative
arrested in Pakistan

US ground forces operating in Pakistan have captured a senior Al Qaeda member.

Identified as Abu Zubaydah, the 30-year-old Palestinian is believed to be an operational commander of Al Qaeda. He was captured last week following raids in Lahore and Faisalabad.

Senior US officials have described Abu Zubaydah as a close confidante of Osama bin Laden.

He speaks English and keeps a low profile, often remaining underground for months together.
