Leaders flock to Scindia residence

Leaders cutting across the political spectrum have flocked to the 27 Safdarjung Road residence of Congress leader Madhavrao Scindia on hearing of the fatal crash of the private airplane he was travelling in.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka Vadra, and Home Minister Lal Kishinchand Advani were among the first to arrive.

Union Law Minister Arun Jaitley, Congress leaders R K Dhawan, Najma Heptullah and Dr Manmohan Singh, and former prime minister Inder Kumar Gujral have also arrived at the Scindia residence.

Madhavrao Scindia Meanwhile, those who were with Scindia on that fatal flight have been identified as his personal secretary Rupinder Singh, Anju Sharma (Hindustan Times), Sanjiv Sinha (Indian Express), Ranjan Jha (Aaj Tak TV) and Gopal Bisht (Aaj Tak).

The plane was being piloted by Ray Gautam.
