Tarun Gogoi elected from Titabor Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was on Saturday elected to the state assembly from the prestigious Titabor constituency.
He defeated his nearest rival Asom Gana Parishad's Hemanta Kalita by a margin 45,244 votes.
Gogoi polled 55,439 votes against Kalita's 10,195 in the by-election held on September 20.
Gogoi fought a quadrangular contest with AGP's Kalita, Communist Party of India's Kula Das and Nalinidhar Paugam of the Nationalist Congress Party.
Gogoi's brother Dip Gogoi, who had won the seat in May this year, vacated it for the chief minister.
BJD wins Rairakhol (SC) seat in Orissa Sanatan Bisi of the Biju Janata Dal defeated Ashok Kumar Beriha of the Congress by a margin of 14,581 votes in the by-election for the Rairakhol assembly constituency in Orissa, official sources said.
BJD retained the seat.
Congress wins Sabarmati Congress candidate Narhari Amin defeated Bharatiya Janata Party's Babubhai Patel by a margin of 18,470 votes to win the Sabarmati assembly seat.
Amin polled 59,203 votes and Patel got 40,733.
The seat fell vacant when sitting BJP MLA Yatin Oza resigned from the party and joined the Congress.
BJP retains Tonk Lok Sabha seat in Rajasthan
The Bharatiya Janata Party retained the Tonk (SC) Lok Sabha seat in Rajasthan, defeating its nearest rival, a ruling Congress party candidate.
The BJP candidate Kailash Meghwal defeated senior Congress leader and Social Welfare Minister Banwari Lal Bairwa by a margin of over 61,000 votes.
The Tonk Lok Sabha seat fell vacant following the death of BJP member Shyam Lal Bansiwal.
TRS wins Siddipet assembly seat in AP Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has won the assembly by-election from Siddipet in Telangana by a margin of 58,712 votes.
Rao, whose party is spearheading the movement for a separate Telangana state, trounced his nearest rival, ruling Telugu Desam Party's M Srinivas Reddy.
The TRS chief polled 82,632 votes and his TDP rival polled 23,920. The Congress nominee finished a poor third with just 3,317 votes.
TDP retains Vayyur assembly seat in coastal Andhra
The ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh has retained the Vayyur assembly seat. The TDP candidate Anne Vijayalakshmi beat her nearest rival K Parthasarathi of the Congress by a margin of 16,450 votes.
Vijayalakshmi polled 52,420 votes, while Parthasarathi secured 35,970.
The by-poll was necessitated following the demise of Telugu Desam Party legislator Anne Babu Rao, Vijayalakshmi's husband.
Congress wins 12-Pakke-Kesang assembly seat in Arunachal
Congress candidate Nyani Natung has won the 12-Pakke-Kesang assembly seat in Arunachal Pradesh, defeating her lone Bharatiya Janata Party rival by 1,223 votes.
Natung, who is a minister of state for social welfare in the Mukut Mithi government, polled 3,041 votes, while the BJP candidate Techi Hemu garnered 1818.
The by-election was necessitated following the death of the state's former education minister, Dera Natung, the husband of Nyani Natung, in a helicopter crash on May 8.
Congress retains Sabarkantha LS seat in Gujarat The Congress has retained the Sabarkantha Lok Sabha seat, defeating a ruling Bharatiya Janata Dal candidate by a margin of 20,809 votes.
The Congress candidate Madhusudan Mistry polled 2,65,209 votes, while the BJP's Upendra Trivedi secured 2,44,400 votes.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Congress MP Nishaben Chaudhary, the wife of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Amarsinh Chaudhary.
