US visa procedures to be simplified

In a move aimed at streamlining visa procedures, the United States embassy in New Delhi on Wednesday announced that beginning December 3, all non-immigrant visa applicants must apply through an appointment system.

All applicants for a non-immigrant visa will now have to make an appointment through the web appointment system, using the website www.ttsvisas.com. Inquiries should be directed to TT services or via email at delhitts@now-india.net.in

Such an arrangement will not only provide a more efficient service, but also help visa applicants avoid the lengthy queues, thereby fulfilling Ambassador Robert D Blackwill's pledge to eliminate long visa lines.

Applicants have been advised by the embassy to arrive at the appointed time, but not more than 15 minutes in advance. Those arriving more than 15 minutes late may be turned away without an interview.
