Three killed in Bihar train accident

Three passengers were killed and 10 others injured when an engine hit the 214 Down Mohkameh-Howrah passenger train at Dumri halt between Mokamah and Bariah stations of Eastern Railway on Tuesday, Additional Director General, Government Railway Police J K Sinha said.

He said that initial reports received by him had put the toll at 13, but later it turned out that only three were killed.

The accident occurred when a pilot engine was being brought to Dumri where the Muzaffarpur-Sealdah passenger train was stranded after its engine developed a snag, Sinha said.

The pilot engine came on the same tracks as the Mokammah-Howrah passenger, resulting in the collision, he said.

Two bogies of the Mokamek-Howrah Passenger were mangled resulting in the deaths and injuries.
