The Assembly Elections 2001: Bengal

48-member Left Front ministry
takes oath in West Bengal

Buddhadev Bhattacharya was on Friday sworn in as the chief minister of the sixth Left Front government in West Bengal along with 47 ministers.

Bhattacharya was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Viren Shah at the Raj Bhavan.

There are 34 ministers of Cabinet rank, including nine new ones, besides six new ministers of state in Bhattacharya's ministry.

This is the sixth successive Left Front government in West Bengal since 1977.
