Pakistan to release 157 Indian fishermen

The Pakistan government will next week release 157 fishermen and 25 boats, seized by its Marine Agency, Gujarat Minister of State for Fisheries Babubhai Bokhiria said in Gandhinagar on Friday.

The Pakistani authorities would hand over the boats to the delegation of the central government on May 23, Bokhiria said in a statement.

The cases against the fishermen would be withdrawn on May 22, following a representation by a delegation from Gujarat to the Pakistani authorities, he said.

The fishermen would be allowed to return to their places in Gujarat and the boats would reach Okha port on May 25, he added.
