PM to undergo right knee surgery

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee Wednesday said he would undergo a right knee replacement surgery in the first week of next month in Bombay.

The operation would be carried out by United States-based surgeon Dr Chittaranjan Ranawat, who had replaced his left knee in October last year, Vajpayee told reporters while returning here from an "important and significant" four-day visit to Malaysia.

Ranawat had advised Vajpayee, who had been suffering from osteoarthritis, to also undergo surgery of his right knee.
