Mauvin Godinho, former power minister of Goa, has been arrested in connection with the multi-crore-rupee power rebate scandal.
Police were conducting raids at Godinho's two houses as well as five business offices at the time of filing this report.
Godinho has been charged with cheating and amassing wealth by misusing his powers as a public authority in 1996, when he was a minister in the Congress government in the state.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, then an opposition legislator, had exposed the scandal.
