Most results expected by
1500 hours IST Sunday

Onkar Singh in New Delhi

Counting in 823 assembly constituencies that went to the polls in the states of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Kerala and the Union Territory of Pondicherry, will be taken up on Sunday.

In Assam, electronic voting machines were used only in the state capital Guwahati.

Counting will begin at 0800 hours IST.

According to Election Commission sources, the first result is expected from Pondicherry, where constituencies are comparatively small.

"We expect the first result to come in around 0900 hours IST from Pondicherry, where some constituencies do not have more than 50,000 voters. Since counting will be done with EVMs, results will come in faster," an official at Nirvachan Sadan stated.

Most results are expected between 1400 hours and 1500 hours on Sunday.
