Jawan kills two, commits suicide

An army jawan killed two colleagues and injured nine others before committing suicide near Mangaldoi in Assam on Tuesday night, defence sources said.

The jawan, Naik T K Love Joy, went berserk and shot dead havildar cook A K Jha and Lance Naik Puspadhar Changma with his service weapon at the Five Assam Rifles base, the sources said.

The jawan continued to fire, injuring nine others, and then shot himself.

All the injured have been admitted to an army hospital in Guwahati.

The jawan was suspected to be in an inebriated condition, the sources said.

Investigations into the incident are on.
