Views:I think a lot more investigation needs to be done on the so called 'evidence' being presented here. We had the 'cricket tapes' some time ago and nothing came out of it. No one explained anything of what they said on the tapes. Tehelka needs to come out openly about the exactly what they did and present unedited tapes. If there is someone guilty they need to be exposed - whether Tehelka or the allegedly corrupt people. Why is the press not investigating into the veracity of tapes? Why is everyone suddenly this as gospel!! It is a shame on the Indian press that they do not want anything other than sensationalism - even in matters of India's security and safety.

Views:Great! Beyond words. When i opened the site today i was asked the question "Does the government has the right to continue? initially i thought of answering NO. then some thing struck me. ""Who has the right to Rule? then..."" there was no answer to this question. So finally decided Dont know" We should not let politicians just resign and escape. People who have criminal or bribery scams against them should be barred from contesting elections FOREVER. (We have enough laws but no use unless it is put in practice). The key for this complicated lock is in the ELECTION SYSTEM. Get the people list who are the most wealthy in india u will find almost 100% politicians. The order of priority should be Politicions First! second the Army officers!!INDIA is poor to the worlds eye. But rich in rich politicians... shameful... Gandhi has preached us about truth. anybody who sees MY COUNTRY (me in a foreign country makes this question even more painful)will obviously ask "hey man Where's is the truth? in INDIA" I am proud to be INDIAN now! why? we are now in the first step...its a long way to go. but i fell happy personally that the journey has started. there is really one way we can improve MAKE EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING TRANSPARENT... This will i am sure will take us a long way in this journey.

Views:Atal Behari Vajpayee heads a government of 1 billion people. He should be given at least a few days to turn over the issue and seek expert advice. We have lived with corruption for fifty years. An extra week or so for our democratically elected leader to sort the issue is not too much to ask. This country doesn't want knee-jerk reaction from its PM.

Views:Keep the punishment based on evidence in proportion to the crime, and to the fullest force of law. It is improper to politicise this issue. The PM should be given a fair opportunity to see justice is done, and criminals weeded out.

Views:Even though we knew that there is corruption, this is the first time, we have seen from our eyes, how the corruptions can be. These politicians should be HANGED and once for all. I am sure that, the indian corrupt and powerful politicians will allow these guys to go scot free. it is 100% true. Take the case of the politiicans involved. they r still roaming around like kings. The same thing will happen to these guys also. but the indian people will suffer as always. It cannot be corrected until the indian mass become educated. Jai Hind

Views:I think that tehelka.com should also be investigated as part of a CBI package that scrutinizes ALL PERSONS appearing on the tapes. The reason is that the source of funding of these tapes have to be established. For the public can well suspect that all this could be a covert long drawn move by some of our neibhours to discredit the armed forces with the ulterior objective of removing one of the more dedicated and graft-free ministers and who is considered hawkish. I think there are Income Tax and company law rules that all transactions over Rs 20,000 must be in cheque, so the source of Rs 11 lakhs that was procured and spent on tehelka's investigative activities must be FIRST established. For it was only after tehelka got the money, that those connected with the govt got theirs .. so first the funding source should be established. The guilty, of course, especially those in Army service must also be suitably punished.

Views:george is always targetted but he has to be careful when handling defence. Now country credibility is at stake. He should have resigned immediately and prime minister should have accepted. Now it is too late people will think it is only a cover up for saving the government. It is very clear all politicians are corrupt only where ever the party they belong to. People can pay a heavy price for electing a new government rather than have a week government. Now we should look at entire political system. In total people has to change and rise to the occassion and save the democracy. Delink politicians on any deals in army or any concluding contracts. Only clearcut system should be allowed to operate. May be president should be given the power to decide along with the army chiefs. President can be immpeached if he is involved in any controversy Thank you

Views: I particularly commend Tehelka's brave souls to go after this for months without chickening out. Now, should the government quit ? Probably not, 'cos another group of corrupts will take over and nothing changes. We cannot compromise on the stability factor and need a stable govt. Right now, BJP is all we got. Book the corrupts and be a watchdog ! The media needs to act more responsibly and not buck to pressures. Be relentless ! Teach the corrupts a good lesson and corruption will weed itself out. Sai

Views:dear sir defence ministry acted and suspended tainted officers. of sachivayalya as well as those working on front though mammat. george and panja resigned late. NOW it is time that PM SHOULD ACT AND BOOK STAFF OF HIS Office and so called close relatives in order to keep his clean IMAGE. NONE DOUBTS HIS SICERERITY BUT IN THE CHANGED CIRCUMSTANCES, IT SHOULD APPEAR TO PUBLIC IN GEN ALSO

Views:Everybody is innocent till proved guilty. Let the inquiry take place to decide who is guilty. Narsimha Rao had framed his ministers under hawala, so was Advani but all of them came out innocent. It could be framework of opposition to discredit govt. as elections are near for state assemblys. Media should act with responsibility.

Views:While the expose is shocking to say the least, I am very very interested in finding out where tehelka.com got more than a million rupees to spend on this whole operation. I am surprised no one has yet questioned their source of funds, or if someone has done so, it has not been brought to the limelight. Their expose will have much more integrity if they reveal their source of income. One million rupees is a *LOT* of money!

Views:Is there any difference between Cong and BJP???? Where is Mr Clean's crediability???? It is not an issue with the nomenclature like scandal, etc or it is not a deal ot anything? When a president of a ruling so called CLEAN party is getting 1 lakh, is it not a bribe??? One Genius of that party say, 1 lakh is not scandal? Then what is corruption, where is the credibility?] This govt is in power even after its president is videographed while getting money If Prime Minister is very honest man then he should have resigned the moment he heard the news.

Views:NO ONE IS GUILTY By Colonel (Retd) A Sridharan, VSM George Fernandes is not guilty. Therefore he need not resign. Yet, he offered to resign but the Prime Minister would have nothing of that sort. But if he did not resign, Mamata will quit the NDA and with that the government may find itself becoming more vulnerable to the attacks by the opposition. In fact, the government may not survive this scam. Hence survival becomes important. Therefore, pressure is brought on George to quit and along with him, his party President and close friend Jaya Jetly, who controlled Samata Party affairs from George’s official Government bungalow, also quits. She did nothing wrong – only directed the fellows to go and pay her party functionary for holding some conclave. She only specified the amount. George’s other colleagues from Samata also quit to sink or swim with their leader. But again the PM would not accept their resignation, because they are not involved. And, he needs them to survive in the Parliament. Yet, just two days after all the initial resistance, George goes down with all guns blazing and, he quit not because of any crime but "for the sake of the morale of the armed forces". He addressed the nation as if he were the Shahan Shah of the armed forces and claimed that he had visited Siachen 18 times and that it was he who asked CVC to go into all the defence deals over Rs 75 crores. The country appreciates what he did, especially his visit to Siachen and to be seen with the Jawans, and also for his "determination to run a transparent ministry", which also has people who deal with shady characters trying to sell fictitious equipment from their fictitious firms. But it is now subject to debate if the West End Scam would also be investigated by the CVC even though, "the whole tape and the transcript is about a fictitious contract

Views:I must congratulate the Tehelaka people that they did this brave act, to expose what is happening in Defence deals for the last 54 years. But in my opinion the issue is not resolved by merely the Government of the day giving resignation. In fact, they should try to formulate the systems by which these things can be cured from the system. This does not reflect that these things have started only after this Government came into existence, but has been happening since long. So all the political parties, both from the treasury benches as well as from opposition should sit together to find out some solution to the problem, rather then wasting time in scoring points over each other. regards Rajeev Mehta

Views:Dear Sir, I cannot understand why so much of hue was beging made by the political parties specially by cong(I).As a party in ruling for 45 yrs they should be knowing better than the BJP AND ITS ALLIES how these deals are made eg:BOFORS Its always better to set right there house in order before they demand for the government to resign At the same time the BJP and allies should take all the precautions so that this type of murky things do not happen in future and behind its back

Views:Ask the Defence Minister to step down if and only if he feels guilty of taking bribe. There are forces against a good government like BJP and its Ministers working in the interest of the Great India. View this situation that arised as scandal as a negative force against the country as a whole and BJP in particular.
