US Congressman to seek more
funds for Gujarat: PTI

United States Congressman Jim McDermott said that he plans to propose an amendment to this year's United States budget resolution to secure allocation of more funds for Gujarat.

"On my recent trip to India, I saw firsthand how Gujarat has been affected, and I started to get a sense of what will be needed to rebuild it. The amount of resources that will be necessary in order to get Gujarat back on its feet is staggering," McDermott, who co-chairs the India Caucus, said.

The United States ought to contribute a significant amount of money in aid in the reconstruction of Gujarat," he said in a statement in Washington.

"As co-chairman of the India Caucus, I will make it a priority to secure money for Gujarat, especially Kutch," he said.
