Madras Mayor M K Stalin surrendered before Additional Sessions Magistrate Ashok Kumar on Saturday morning, hours after the arrest of his father and former TN chief minister Muthuvel Karunandhi.
Stalin had driven down to Bangalore on Friday evening on a weekend visit to his sister's house.
On hearing of the pre-dawn arrest of Karunanidhi, Stalin drove back to Madras.
"When I reached home, I found that my house had also been raided," Stalin told mediapersons.
"The police party had no search warrant, no arrest warrant; the raid was in violation of constitutional rights," he said.
Stalin immediately drove to the residence of the additional sessions magistrate and surrendered.
He was remanded to judicial custody till July 14.
Stalin was charged with amassing money illegally through award of contracts for the construction of 10 flyovers in Madras to companies close to him when of Karunanidhi was the chief minister.
"This will not end here," Stalin told mediapersons before surrendering.
"What they have done to me and my father is unconstitutional. I intend to file criminal charges against all those involved."
"I will fight back, I can promise you that," he said.
