21 bodies identified

The bodies of eight of the 42 passengers killed in the Kadalundi train accident have been identified so far, official sources said on Friday night.

The bodies of 24 victims have been kept at the Medical College Hospital in Calicut.

Deaths are also being reported from private hospitals in and around the city.

Following is the list of victims identified till 0200 hrs (23/06/01):

Kuruvila John (Chalakkudi),
Zahir (New Mahe),
Velayudhan Nair (Parappanangadi),
Haneefa (Thalassery),
Mohammedali Hajee,
Ubaid (Tirur),
Harikrishnan (Vatakara),
Mohammed Ashraf (Tirur),
Reema (Trikkandiyur),
Baburaj (Arikkulam),
C P Shaju (Chakkarakkal),
K Sugunan (Ullalam),
four year-old Sadu (Paroppadi),
K Jayan (Tirur),
Divya (Chevayur),
Subrahmaniam (Madras),
Sainuddin (Edayavur),
K K Appukkuttan (Koyilandi),
M Venkatesh (Calicut),
Dhananjayan (Calicut).

Meanwhile, Kerala Health Minister P Sankaran said arrangements had been made at the Beach hospital and a private hospital in Calicut to accommodate all the injured since the MCH had limited facilities.
