Curfew reimposed in Kathmandu

Curfew was reimposed in Kathmandu, as a precautionary measure, even as the situation, charged by Friday night's palace massacre, started limping back to normal.

No incidents of violence were reported from anywhere in the city after curfew was lifted last midnight, police sources said.

Markets opened and many tourists moved around in areas earlier rocked by mob violence.

Senior police officials told PTI that over 600 people were detained for violating curfew orders on Tuesday.

Over 5,000 personnel of Nepal's police and reserved forces have been deployed across the city to prevent any untoward incident.

Six persons were killed, scores injured and hundreds arrested since the outbreak of violence.
