At least two people died in Kathmandu in the violent protests that followed the crowning of Prince Gyanendra as the new king on Monday.
Kathmandu had been tense since Monday morning after news of King Dipendra's death came in.
According to officials, a person was killed when the police opened fire on a mob in Baneswar area of Kathmandu, which defied curfew orders and marched into the streets.
The crowd was protesting against the newly crowned king Gyanendra, his son Paras and other members of the establishment.
People believe that Dipendra was not responsible for the death of the 12 royals, but was a pawn in a larger conspiracy.
With the crowds turning violent during the investiture ceremony of Gyanendra, the government clamped curfew in Kathmandu from 1600 hours to 0500 hours Tuesday morning.
Another person was injured in the morning outside the military hospital. Though initial reports said he was injured in police firing, officials later clarified that the man was injured in a stampede.
He later succumbed to his injuries.
