Thackeray dissociates party from criticism of PMO

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Tuesday had a telephonic talk with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during which he dissociated his party from the criticism of the prime minister's office in the Unit Trust of India muddle, sources said.

Thackeray said the party did not share Sanjay Nirupam's views and therefore the prime minister should not think in terms of stepping down, the sources said.

The Shiv Sena chief told the prime minister that his party was totally with him, the sources added.
