Jaya to attend Rangarajan swearing-in

George Iype in Madras

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa would be attending the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed acting governor of Tamil Nadu C Rangarajan, according to sources close to her.

There was speculation that she might not attend the function as she had been to Guruvayur temple in Kerala on Monday. However, Jayalalithaa returned to Madras early on Tuesday morning.

It may be recalled that Jayalalithaa had expressed her displeasure over the Centre's decision to recall Fatima Beevi.

Meanwhile, Rangarajan reached Madras early on Tuesday morning for the swearing-in ceremony after he got the appointment letter from President K R Narayanan.

This is the second time Rangarajan is officiating as the acting governor of Tamil Nadu. The last occasion was when Fatima Beevi had gone for Haj pilgrimage.
