Power supply to Bhuj may be restored by Sunday evening: PTI

Power supply to the quake affected Bhuj town and other parts of Kutch district was likely to be restored by Sunday evening, Gujarat Electricity Board sources have said.

Work on a war footing was on to restore power to the affected areas, the sources told PTI.

Seven technical teams, five contractors teams and 30 trucks loaded with the required materials for restoration of power have reached Bhuj.

The four diesel generating sets needed for recharging of 132 KVA transmission lines at Anjar and Bhuj have also reached the site, sources said.

These sets will also help in bringing 215 megawatt lignite based power station back on stream at Panandhro near Bhuj, which stopped generation of power after quake hit the area on Friday last.
