Sonia Gandhi visits quake-hit areas

She visited quake-affected people in Paldi area and saw the relief and rescue operations and also listened to the grievances of the people. She later handed over the complaints of the people to the Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner.

The Congress leader asked party leaders to take up grievances of the people with the chief minister and state governor.

Later, she left for Kutch district on her way to Delhi.

According to Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee sources, the Maharashtra government has provided a relief of Rs 50 million while Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan governments have given Rs 10 million each towards quake relief.

A sum of Rs 2.5 million was given to the GPCC from the Rajiv Gandhi Relief Fund of the AICC to provide succour to the quake-hit people of Gujarat.
