Surajbari bridge restored

Our Correspondent in Bhuj

Nearly all bus stations and hospitals at Bachao, Bhuj and Anjar have been damaged and at least 150 multi-storeyed buildings have collapsed.

Most communication lines are still down.

Surajbari bridge, which links Saurashtra to Kutch, has been thrown open to traffic after it was damaged on Friday. Traffic movement is, however, slow.

The railway ministry has announced four special trains from Bombay, Calcutta, Madras and New Delhi to Ahmedabad.

Union Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee told a television channel that railway employees will donate a day's salary each to the earthquake relief fund.

Indian Railways employs 1.6 million people.
