One killed, 11 injured in Srinagar grenade blast

At least one person was killed and eleven others, including two policemen, were injured when a grenade, hurled by militants, exploded at the historic Lal Chowk near on Friday afternoon.

Militants threw a hand grenade towards a stranded vehicle of the Border Security Force at the busy Lal Chowk around 1445 hrs (IST), but the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside, injuring twelve people.

However, the security men posted in the nearby bunkers did not retaliate.

The injured were later shifted to a hospital where one Ghulam Rasool died.

Official sources said another bomb had exploded at Sadarbal, half a km from the Kashmir University on Thursday evening, without causing damage.
