RSS for negotiated settlement to Ayodhya

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Tuesday said it preferred a negotiated settlement to the Ayodhya tangle even as it indicated that Kashi and Mathura continued to be on the Sangh Parivar agenda.

"We are in favour of a peaceful solution to the Ram Janmabhoomi issue acceptable to both communities. It could be either through legal means or negotiations but we do prefer a negotiated settlement," RSS joint general Secretary Madan Das Devi told PTI in Anjaar.

Describing the conception of Ram Temple as a matter of "national honour" he said it was for the Marg Darshak Mandal of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad to decide on the date to begin construction work.

Asked whether building temples at Kashi and Mathura continued to be part of the RSS agenda, Devi said, "We are not a political party to have any agenda. We are committed to the nation building. And Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura are a part of that process."
