Fernandes skips maritime seminar

A Correspondent in Bombay

Defence Minister George Fernandes on Friday skipped the international maritime seminar which was to kick off the International Fleet Review in Bombay.

According to an announcement made at the seminar, Fernandes had to stay back in New Delhi to attend a meeting of the Union Cabinet, and is expected in the city later in the day. In his absence, the naval chief, Adm Sushil Kumar, inaugurated the seminar.
