CBI team reaches Corbett Park

A Central Bureau of Investigation team has reached the Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttaranchal to probe the killing of five elephants in the park since the last week of December.

Principal Secretary (forests) R S Tolia, who returned from a tour of the park on Wednesday, said more than 200 people are now engaged in the combing operations in the park.

A team of Ecotaskforce is assisting forest and police personnel in the combing operations.

Three platoons of the Provincial Armed Constabulary have also been posted in the park, Tolia said.

Till now, no poacher has been traced nor has any elephant tusk been recovered.
