Free phones to communicate with
relatives in quake-hit Gujarat

US-based Startec Global Communication said people could leave messages of their well-being for their relatives in the United State of America.

"People in the US can log into www.estart.com where they can search for messages from their relatives by entering their phone numbers in the search field. If their relatives have left voice messages, they can be heard too," it said.

"This is an unique effort and we are doing this primarily as community service. There are no costs to be borne by anybody - callers or their relatives in the US."

Meanwhile, India Development and Relief Fund, a private organisation of NRIs said in a release that it is working closely with major donors, individuals, religious bodies, citizens' associations, professional bodies to send relief to Gujarat quake victims.

Contributions channelled through it are directly sent to NGOs without intermediaries, it said.
