Water purification unit missing from Bhuj airport

Sheela Bhatt in Bhuj

Lavendra Mansingh, chief coordinator of the relief in Bhuj, has alleged that the whereabouts of one of the two water purification units sent by the Prime Minister's Office is unknown.

"The units arrived in Bhuj by flight. One of the units was unloaded at Hangar No 7. Some unknown persons took delivery and left in a civilian truck," he said.

The PMO's representative at Bhuj is furious since the unit was to be installed in one of the most affected villages.

There were also reports that a consignment of shoes and rechargeable batteries and other imported goods were stolen from the airport.
