Laloo surrenders in yet another fodder scam case

Former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Laloo Prasad Yadav, who was on Wednesday released from jail by the Supreme Court in a fodder scam case, was again sent to jail on Thursday in yet another case.

He had surrendered in a special CBI court in Ranchi in connection with a fodder scam case relating to the fraudulent withdrawal of over Rs 320 million from the Chaibasa treasury in Jharkhand and had applied for bail.

Yadav's counsel had argued that having been released on bail earlier in another case pertaining to the fodder scam, the former Bihar chief minister should be granted bail in this one too.

Designated CBI judge P R Das, however, rejected the application and remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.

A total of 54 persons, including Yadav, are accused in the case.
