Two young men connected with the Kashmiri militant outfit, Lashkar-e-Tayiba, were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police in the Lucknow cantonment on Monday evening.
The two youths, Altaf Hussain and Saleem, belong to Ambedkar Nagar and Azamgarh and a huge cache of lethal explosives, including 15 kg RDX and timer devices, was recovered from them.
Hussain and Saleem confessed their plans of engineering blasts in Lucknow on the Independence Day. They also admitted to being involved in planting a time-bomb in the ancient Hanuman Garhi temple in Ayodhya on June 13, 2000.
"I got lured by the money offered to me by the Lashkar-e-Tayiba area commander Imran, who was responsible for inducting me into this business, Hussain told rediff.com
Hussain declined to divulge any details about Imran. "All I know is that he is a Pakistani who manages to track me down whenever he wants," he said.
He admitted to having received training in assembling explosive devices at a Lakshkar-e-Tayiba camp in Muzaffarabad, a well-known town in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Saleem was, however, inducted into terrorist activity only recently.
