LTTE men denied entry into France: Report

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam spokesman Anton Balasingham and five others have been denied entry into France, a Sri Lankan newspaper reported on Thursday.

The militant group's attempt to shift its operations from London to Paris, after it was proscribed in Britain in March, failed when its functionaries were barred from entering France, the Daily News said.

Balasingham was earlier refused entry into Switzerland and Australia, the report said.

Senior functionary Lawrence Thilagar, who has been running an office for many years in Paris, had earlier been removed by the LTTE leadership after a 'financial scandal', it said.

France and Sri Lanka established a comprehensive security network to share their experiences in dealing with LTTE after an official visit to France by President Chandrika Kumaratunga earlier this year.
