AP child trafficking accused in Bangalore: Police

The director of an adoption centre at Tandur in Ranga Reddy district of Andhra Pradesh, from where 66 infants were rescued recently, has moved a court in Bangalore for bail, senior police officials in Hyderabad said.

Savithri Devi, absconding since April 6 when Karnataka police raided her Tandur-based John Abraham Memorial Bethany Home in connection with illegal procurement of infants, has sought anticipatory bail from a court in Bangalore.

"We have reasons to believe that Savithri, from whose orphanage 66 infants were rescued, is in Bangalore," a police officer said.

Meanwhile, the state Criminal Investigation Department on Monday continued its investigations into the racket without any breakthrough.
