Karunanidhi behind rejection of nominations: Jaya

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo J Jayalalitha Tuesday accused Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief M Karunanidhi of being behind the rejection of her nominations papers for the coming assembly poll in Tamil Nadu and said "ultimately dharma will prevail".

She told reporters at Tirupattur in Sivaganga district, where she is electioneering, "To ensure that I don't contest the polls, Karunanidhi has conspired by seeing to it that my nomination papers are rejected."

"If people desire, they will thwart this conspiracy. I can only say that it is the people who can render justice and give a befitting reply. Ultimately, dharma will win."

Appealing to people to vote for AIADMK, she said if this was done, nobody could prevent 'MGR rule' from being ushered in the state.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president E V K S Elangovan told PTI that the rejection of Jayalalitha's papers would in no way affect the electoral prospects of AIADMK-led front. "In fact, we will win more seats now."

Dravidar Kazhagam general secretary K Veeramani, in his statement, described the rejection as 'anti-democratic'. "It is a fine example of how far political vendetta could go. It is a pyrrhic victory for DMK-BJP combine."

In separate statements, Communist Party of India state secretary R Nallakannu and Communist Party of India-Marxist secretary N Sankariah said the rejection would in no way affect the alliance. The people would ensure that the AIADMK-led secular front won.
