Help Tehri dam contractor resume work:
HC tells Uttaranchal govt

The Uttaranchal high court has directed the state government to help Jai Prakash Industries resume the stalled work on the Tehri dam.

Jai Prakash Industries, which was involved in the construction of the Tehri dam, had filed a petition in the high court at Nainital after work on the project had to be stopped due to an agitation against its construction. The company said it was losing millions of rupees with the halt of the work.

During the hearing, environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna had also appeared in the court and put forth his arguments. The high court has said that the government must attend to the problem of oustees also.
