Jawan killed in Pak firing in Jammu

One soldier was killed and another injured when Pakistani troops opened fire along the Line of Control in the Rajouri sector of Jammu region on Thursday, official sources in Jammu said.

The Pakistanis, armed with medium-range weapons, opened fire on several border outposts along the LoC in Noushera area of the Rajouri sector early on Thursday, the sources said.

The Indian troops retaliated and the exchange of fire continued till afternoon. Two jawans were injured in the firing, one of whom died later in hospital.

There was also an exchange of fire between the Border Security Force and the Pakistani Rangers along the international border in Budhwar, Jabowal, Mehta Post, Chak Faquira, Banglarn, Tanghar, Mawa and Arnia areas in Samba and Hiranagar sub-sector of the Jammu and Kathua sectors, the sources said. But there was no loss of life or damage to property.
