Ultras ambush army vehicle; 10 killed in J&K

Terrorists ambushed an army vehicle, killing two soldiers and injuring five others, while seven militants and an infiltrator were killed and 12 kilograms of RDX was seized in Jammu & Kashmir since Monday evening.

Militants fired indiscriminately at an army vehicle in Gursai-Surankote area of Poonch district in Jammu region on Monday night, injuring seven soldiers, official sources said. Two of the soldiers died later.

Three foreign mercenaries said to be associated with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba were killed in a nightlong encounter with security forces at Pattan in Baramulla district.

Two terrorists, one of them a Pakistani national, were killed in separate encounters at Durswani and Dardpora villages in the frontier district of Kupwara. Some arms and ammunition were recovered from them.

A militant each was killed in gun battles with security forces in Banihal and Doda districts.

An intruder was killed in an exchange of fire with the Border Security Force in Nowapind area of R S Pura sector.

Two Hizbul Mujahideen extremists were captured at Sopore in Baramulla district.

During search operations, security forces recovered 12kg of RDX and two solar rockets in Rajouri district.
