PIL seeks removal of Brajesh Mishra
from the PMO

Imran Khan in Bhubaneswar

A public interest litigation, filed in the Orissa High Court in Cuttack on Saturday, has demanded the removal of Brajesh Mishra, principal secretary to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, from his post in the Prime Minister's Office in view of the Tehelka.com expose.

Brajesh Mishra is also the National Security Advisor.

This is the first time that a PIL has been filed demanding action against those figuring in the expose on corruption in defence deals.

The petitioner Kamini Kanta Mohanty has asked why Brajesh Mishra has not been removed from the PMO till date when all the officials of the defence ministry shown in the Tehelka video tapes have been suspended and some others have resigned on moral grounds.

He prayed for the high court's intervention in the matter and asked Prime Minister Vajpayee to take strong action against Brajesh Mishra by removing him from the PMO.
