Surinder Singh files interim reply against termination notice

"The final reply to the army headquarters' notice has been held in reserve and an interim reply, filed on Wednesday, asking for a host of documents and evidence has been submitted," Surinder Singh's counsel Ranjit Singh Randhawa said.

Replying to the notice served on August 28, Surinder Singh has demanded copies of findings of the court of inquiry, the Subrahmanyam Committee report which went into Kargil lapses and his own statement before the inquiry committee.

Singh has also demanded to know the terms of reference of the Reddy Committee related with this issue and evidence, inquiry report and findings of an inquiry committee headed by G Atmaram.

The interim reply has accused the Chief of Army Staff General V P Malik of bias and claimed he was not competent to issue orders for his (Surinder Singh's) termination from service.

The Brigadier, alleged to be guilty of 'lapses in Kargil leading to a conflict with Pakistan last year', has not demanded handing over the documents within a specified time-limit but sought 'sufficient' time for a final reply.
