Police abort ex-minister's peace mission

Fomer Karnataka minister S Ramesh and 50 others, who set out on a peace mission to the Sathyamangalam forests to meet forest brigand Veerappan and secure the release of Kannada actor Dr Rajakumar, were arrested, in Bangalore on Saturday.

Police said Ramesh and others were arrested after garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, before embarking on their mission. They were released later, police added.
