11 senior Congmen in Sikkim resign

E-Mail this report to a friend

Eleven senior members of the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee have resigned from the primary membership of the party without stating any reasons.

Those who quit the party Sunday included SPCC vice-president, T M Rai; chairman, Election Campaign Committee, I P Tewari; four general secretaries and five members of the East District Congress Committee.

The one-line resignation letter addressed to the SPCC president Namkha Gyaltsen jointly signed by the 11 members, has also been sent to the Congress chief, Sonia Gandhi, and All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of Sikkim, Ambika Soni.

When contacted Gyaltsen said: "I don't know why they have resigned. I have not met them since I took over on July 16."

Both Tewari and Rai are tight-lipped too. "We just don't want to be in the Congress. Nobody is to be blamed," they said.
