Vajpayee in 'fine' condition

The condition of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, recuperating at Breach Candy hospital in Bombay following joint replacement surgery on his left knee last week, was described as 'fine and he walked a bit on Monday'.

"Vajpayee had his physiotherapy and exercises and also walked in the passage of the 7th floor on Monday morning with the help of a walker for a few minutes," PMO sources said in Bombay.

However, except for a few important visitors, no other person was allowed to meet him as per the strict instructions of medical experts, the sources said.

Bharatiya Janata Party president Bangaru Laxman met the Prime Minister on Sunday night.

Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Narayan Rane met Vajpayee on Monday morning, according to hospital sources.
