Interpol alert against Dawood, Rajan

Interpol has issued Red Corner notices against underworld dons Chhota Rajan, who recently escaped from police custody in Bangkok, and Dawood Ibrahim, Rajya Sabha was informed Wednesday.

Minister of State for Home Affairs I D Swami told V P Duraisamy in a written reply that the Interpol issued the notices at the instance of Mumbai police.

Swamy said Dawood, who is suspected to have close links with the Inter-Services Intelligence, is reported to have taken shelter in Karachi.

Chhota Rajan, who was once an important member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang, broke away from him in 1992-93 and has since set up an independent underworld empire, the minister said.
