At least 14 agricultural labourers were killed when a tractor carrying them plunged into an irrigation canal near Nandiwada in Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh.

The farmers were returning after a harvesting operation when the mishap occurred, a report quoting police from Machilipatnam said.

A report from the Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla said 23 people were killed and 25 injured in two road accidents in the state.

Thirteen people were killed and 10 injured when a private bus rolled down into a 300-feet deep gorge at Lathyana in Sirmour district.

In a similar accident, 10 people were killed and 15 wounded, 10 of them seriously, when a truck carrying a marriage party fell into a ditch in Mandi district.

The injured, some of them seriously, were admitted to hospital. The driver and conductor of the bus, which was going from Koti Dhima and Nahan, were among the injured.

In the truck accident, the injured were admitted to a nearby health centre. The seriously injured were taken to the regional hospital at Mandi. The truck was going from Gongla village to Sarkhaghat.
