Congress not to support JMM-S: PTI

The Congress Working Committee Monday decided against supporting the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha led by Shibu Soren, in the formation of a government in Jharkhand, which becomes a state on Wednesday.

Party sources said that the informal meeting of the CWC decided against ''supporting any faction'', an apparent reference to the JMM-S, which had formally sought support of the party having 11 legislators in a 81-member assembly.

AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad told newsmen that the Congress preferred to sit in the Opposition as it did not want to support any ''unstable'' government.

The CWC decision came amid divergent views in the state legislature party on the issue.
