Lone unable to visit PoK
for son's wedding

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

For Abdul Ghani Lone, senior leader of the separatist All Parties Hurriyat Conference, attending his son's marriage in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan, is not going to be an easy preposition.

Lone's son Sajjad Ahmed Lone is scheduled to get married to Asma Khan, the daughter of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (Amanullah group) chairman Amanullah Khan on November 19 in Muzzafarabad, capital of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Lone has made a plea to the Union home ministry for permission to visit PoK for the wedding.

However, family sources said, "After having failed to obtain travel permission from Indian authorities, who do not even clearly deny it, Lone is returning to Srinagar from New Delhi."

When contacted, a senior state police officer in Srinagar told rediff.com, "We have not yet received any communication from the Union home ministry regarding no-objection for Lone's application."

Sources close to Lone say that the Nation Human Rights Commission has expressed its inability to intervene in the matter as technically 'Lone's application is still pending with the Union home ministry, which not rejected it either'.
