Soren will stake claim for Jharkhand CM's post

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Soren will stake its claim to form a 'secular government' headed by its president Sibu Soren in Jharkhand, expected to come into being next week, a top party leader said on Wednesdasy.

The decision was taken at a meeting of JMM-S office-bearers and MLAs chaired by Soren himself at Patna on Tuesday, party general secretary Vinod Bhagat told PTI over phone from the city.

He claimed that apart from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Congress and the Left parties, National Democratic Alliance partners Samata Party, the Janata Dal-United, and independents, including Samresh Singh, MLA from Bokaro in Bihar assembly have extended their support to JMM-S to install a secular interim government in Jharkhand.

Besides, some of the Bharatiya Janata Party legislators who had their sympathy with party vice-president Karia Munda have also assured the party leadership of their support, he claimed.

Exuding confidence that the JMM-S-led combination was sure to prove its majority in the 81-member Jharkhand assembly, he said the party will see to it that communal forces are prevented from coming to power in the state.

The JMM-S's decision to snap ties with NDA was welcomed at the meeting, which was participated by prominent party leaders like Sudhir Mahato, Champai Soren, Teklal Mahato, Stephen Marandi and Dulal Bhuiyan, he added.
