E-Mail this report to a friend

The National Democratic Alliance and its coalition partner Jharkhand Mukti Morcha today decided to accept the RJD-CPIM sponsored Congress candidate Sadanand Singh as speaker of the Bihar assembly, following which he was elected speaker unanimously.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also said he will seek a confidence vote in the assembly on Friday, March 10.

The ruling combine took the decision early this morning after all attempts to elect the speaker unanimously failed.

NDA leader and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kailashpati Mishra said they had taken the decision to maintain the tradition of the state assembly to elect the speaker unanimously.
