Putin coming to India on October 2

E-Mail this report to a friend

Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday announced in Moscow that he would pay a three-day visit to India beginning October 2.

Asserting that Russia's strategic relations with India "are intensively and consistently developing," Putin told visiting External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh, who called on him, that he had extended his visit by a day on New Delhi's request.

"Now we feel the need to visit to India to discuss with Prime Minister A B Vajpayee further co-operation, whose "powerful components were intensive political interaction in international arena and military-technical co-operation" between the two countries, Putin said.

Putin and Singh suggested joint action in combating international terrorism, an official spokesman said.
