E-Mail this report to a friend

At least 12 people were killed and several injured when militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland exploded a powerful bomb on a passenger train in lower Assam Monday, official sources said in Guwahati.

The passenger train was on its way from Guwahati to Tezpur and the blast took place near Khandikar, about 60 km from Guwhati at about 2000 hours IST, official sources said.

Several bogies of the train were damaged as an impact of the blast.

Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has condemned the incident.
