Stay calm, Thackeray tells Sainiks

E-Mail this report to a friend

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today asked his partymen to stay calm and not fall prey to the state government's provocations.

A statement issued on Friday by Saamna, which is edited by Thackeray, said Home Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, referred to as Lakhoba in the press release, was unnecessarily creating tension in the state and his actions were politically motivated.

Bhujbal has cleared Thackeray's prosecution in a 1992-93 riots case, in which Thackeray has been accused of writing inflammatory editorials in Saamna at the height of the communal tension in Bombay.

The statement quotes Thackeray as saying that the state government is misusing its legal powers thus forcing the residents of Bombay to live in fear.
